Ngorongoro Crater

Safari Adventure

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking dome-like caldera that feels almost mythical when first seen. Surrounded by lush tropical forests, it offers spectacular views and a unique landscape. It is among the best places in Tanzania to spot the endangered black rhinoceros and is home to the entire “big five” — lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos — making it a premier year-round destination for wildlife lovers.

The park’s greenery supports abundant wildlife throughout the year, though many animals also join the Great Wildebeest Migration toward Kenya’s Masai Mara. Within the caldera, visitors can encounter vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest, gazelles, and zebras, alongside predators such as hyenas, lions, and jackals, creating an unforgettable safari experience.

At Ngonzi Tours, we go beyond a safari—we create immersive experiences connecting you with nature while ensuring your comfort. Whether it’s your first safari or one of many, we guarantee memories that will last a lifetime.

At Makat Lake, visitors can admire flocks of vibrant flamingos, while the Ngorongoro Picnic Area offers a unique sight of hippos near the water. The crater’s forested edges are home to leopards and black rhinos, with baboons often seen playing and foraging throughout the day.

Adding cultural richness, the Maasai people live within the crater, peacefully coexisting with wildlife as they tend to their cattle. Nearby attractions such as Olmoti and Empakaai craters, Lake Ndutu, and the Ol Doinyo Lengai Volcano provide excellent opportunities for day trips, making Ngorongoro an even more captivating destination.
